Service Corps SF was founded in the spring of 2015 to serve the SF community in the areas of hunger, homelessness, literacy, the environment, and chronic and debilitating diseases.

Service Corps welcomes new mother son teams with sons in the 7th, 8th or 9th grade, depending on availability. Members must reside in or have a son who attends school in San Francisco.

We have approximately 300 members with sons in grades 7 – 12. We are looking for new members who have a desire to gain leadership skills, raise social awareness and make a difference by serving our philanthropy partners in San Francisco.

Service Corps has an annual membership drive that starts in late fall and ends in February each year.

Each adult member (mother/guardian) and each child member (son) must serve a minimum of 15 hours of community service with our philanthropy partners during our membership year, which runs from April 1 to March 31.

Each adult member (mother/guardian) and child member (son) must attend a minimum of 3 of 5 two hour meetings a year. Meetings usually take place on Sunday afternoons and involve a combination of volunteer work, social interaction, and organizational business.

Each adult member (mother/guardian) must commit to an organizational job for the membership year. These positions support the overall operations of Service Corps and range from Board level positions to smaller jobs that can be done from home. Small jobs may require several hours for the entire year, larger jobs may require several hours per week/month to fulfil your obligations.

Each member adult (mother/guardian) and child member (son) must pay an annual membership fee of $125 per person. If the fee would put an undue financial burden on members, Service Corps offers the opportunity to confidentially request and receive financial assistance.

Yes, we are a certified partner and verifying entity for The President’s Volunteer Service Award. This means that we verify hours that our members serve in other philanthropic endeavors – both Service Corps hours and any hours outside of our organization (school, religious organization, summer service trips, etc.)  You can learn about the PVSA award by going to their official website (http://presidentialserviceawards.gov/).
